Ios harbour is located on the west side of the island. The little rocky island Diakofto is stands out clearly on the west side of the entrance of the Ios bay. Care should be taken of the reef running south on the east side of the entntrace of the bay, just 100 m from cape Xeres. When the meltemi is blowing, string gusts are coming into the bay.

Mooring: Go stern or bows in the peer on the east side of the harbour next to the ferry dock.
Lazy lines are available, but if you don't find one drop your anchor further out of the buoy indicating the lazy lines chain.
Bear in mind that is forbiden to anchor in the bay, all yachts should use the yacht marina.
The sea-bed is mud with excellent holding. Mind the surge of the ferries, especially of the High speed catamarans (keep good distance from the dock and keep your gangway higher from the dock when not in use).
